Ever since moving into the Shevvingtons’ boarding house, Christina’s schoolmates have started acting strangely. Michael and Benjamin are standoffish, and Anya seems to be losing her mind. Christina is certain the seemingly perfect Mr. and Mrs. Shevvington are behind it all, but no one will believe her. Are her friends going crazy in the Schooner Inne—or is Christina?

The Shevvingtons seems to be winning whatever sick psychological game they’re playing with their young boarders. Anya is a sad, quiet shell of her former self, and now the Shevvingtons are manipulating Christina’s old friend Dolly. But no one will listen to Christina when she claims that the Shevvingtons are behind the girls’ strange behavior. Then Christina starts hearing scary noises in the basement. Are the Shevvingtons targeting her next?

The semester is almost over. Christina is almost free. But then she begins sleepwalking, unconsciously doing dangerous things like leaving lit candles around the house, carrying around pockets full of matches, and doodling flames into her textbooks—or so claim the Shevvingtons. Can Christina survive until the school year ends? Or will the Shevvingtons turn Christina’s life into a fiery hell?
