Alex Michaelides (Chipre, 1977) estudió Literatura Inglesa y Psicoterapia. Trabajó en una unidad de seguridad para adultos jóvenes, experiencia que le proporcionó material e inspiración para La paciente silenciosa, su primera novela: un thriller que está siendo traducido en cuarenta países y cuyos derechos cinematográficos han sido comprados por la productora de Brad Pitt. También es guionista de películas como Un robo inesperado, protagonizada por Uma Thurman y Tim Roth.
